All cooped up, but still I had it pretty lucky that year of 2020, after going home to my family to finish the semester and help them move. I got to go back to the great backyard of Colorado! And heck it was a good one!
This last year had its challenges, but I thankful for how my friends and loved ones still made it spectacular with all the views to prove it!

"WANDERLUST: a strong desire for an impulse to wander or travel and explore the world."
This one will be short so feel free to grab yourself a cup of coffee anyway for this breeze of a read.
Snap Shot Adventures
These are in no particular order, but popped in my head as I reflected on the past year on what I wanted to take with me into the next year of 2021. To me these are special little moments which gave me adventures and memories that in twenty to thirty years will make me smile.
List of My Favorite Moments:
- BIG Cinnamon Buns
-Camping
- ROM Hiking!
- Road Trip to NOLA
BIG Cinnamon-BUNS
Now, DISCLAIMER which I may be shunned for, I'm not a fan of cinnamon buns. Though my college professor had sworn to me that it would change. Instead, I brought the one person I knew could and would eat the cinnamon bun. When I saw that massive hunker come out on the small orange plate barely managing to stay on I was stunned. We usually say things are bigger in Texas. This however, took that statement to a whole other level. Plus when you're man looks at you and says with a full mouth, "We are coming back here for the cinnamon buns." You bet we did. In fact we were so committed we actually went to a second Western Omelet just down the road to see if the cinnamon buns were better or held the standard. Needless to say, though the small diner vibe was sweet, the original off of I-25 had us as regulars weekenders.
Camping
The one thing I really wanted to check off my bucket list was, use my tent that I had gotten for my 21st birthday. After writing a very detailed memo as per requirement to go anywhere overnight during the-RONA- I used the bright yellow tent off of Forest Road 379. With smiles and a few pictures to take back with me and a silly last minute Walmart trip! With my willing adventure buddy we had forgotten the one basic need of survival.
FOOD & alcohol!
The alcohol was for me, because as a girl who had survived twenty-one years of life thanks to my intelligent parents for raising me well... I actually hadn't drank too much. (Just do it safely, which is what we did.) I was the only one who giggled hugging trees.
ROM Hiking

ROM... what is there not to say about restriction of movement? Sure, wasn't the greatest eating food from a Styrofoam box three times a day but it was food! However, we were allowed to get creative with our forced limits and the base Colorado has plenty of land. The mountains were right outside our back doors and several people who follow the culture of outdoor extremists.
Yet the second I started my friend Clayton was off to the races. I mean I don't know if this guy has springs in his boots but he was going. Not to mention altitude change from sea level to almost eight-thousand feet, woo! I probably looked ridiculous or that I had been arrogant and over estimated myself. But we both made it to the lake only to see that it was EMPTY!
It was a relief to get out for a few hours though.
Road Trip to NOLA
The last big thing of 2020 was a daring road trip to NOLA, as a birthday and Christmas gift to the man I love it was the most memorable one. I don't speak Cajun, but he spoke a lot about his time there with enjoyment. That he missed it, wanting to eventually go back. Where he had met his best friend and I wanted to give him something to remember.
Of course we saw the sights of WWII Museum, Jackson Park, tasted the Beignets at Cafe Du Monde, wandered from the French Quarter to Bourbon Street.
I'm glad he was willing to put up with my wanderlust and constant buzzed smile with kisses.
