The best way to spend time at a coffee shop is with good friends...and good chocolate!

LOYAL COFFEE

My intention to try out Loyal Coffee was postponed one weekend when Abby and I headed out to the cafe... but got hungry and decided to hop on over to the local IHOP down the road. However, with one of my great friends and teammates who is leaving for the semester to go abroad in two weeks she and I spontaneously decided to go on an errand run to get her skirts and food.

Her words were, "I'm along for the ride" meaning this was my show.

YAY! I GET TO DECIDE!!!

Though I didn't really know what at first we were going to do. Yet, the easy choice was food, and with our last college year about to begin in 48 hours the best bet was to go some place to catch up. Neither of us had tried Loyal Coffee but we were willing to give this hot spot chain a shot.

Probie (my dino-blue Honda Civic) took us straight there, and we were just babbling about our summers and the programs we got to run. Ridiculous shenanigans that we witnessed or rumors of crazy cadet tales. But those we won't dispel here. What happens in the zoo, stays in the zoo.

Now Loyal Coffee was nice and popping. From wood, to marble, and rope hanging from the ceiling it was going for an aesthetic appeal, there was no getting around that. The little succulents in coffee mugs up on the shelves to the chocolate. Now it caught both our eyes; Ritual Chocolate. And of course my butt buys it because its a guaranteed sweet treat and the cute packaging.

There were four to choose from,

  • Honey Comb: with 75% cocoa, with hints of bitter truffle and honey specks.

  • Dark Sea Salt: with 70% cocoa and sea salt

  • Raspberry: 70% cocoa you can guess what's in the that.

  • Milk Chocolate: 70% cocoa and milk

I chose the Honey Comb because the package was yellow and I was curious to see what honey and chocolate combination was in store. That wasn't what racked up my bill to be a heft $35 bucks, but it played a pretty big part. Let me tell you, avocado toast, vanilla honey hot latte, and honey mango black tea + a chocolate bar ends up to make an expensive bill.

But one needs to remember to invest in themselves, and in this case--I got what I paid for. The avocado toast was garnished with a sweet vinaigrette, runny soft boiled egg, bacon and two thick slices of freshly baked in house bread.

This seemed to be the spot for reunions as several people came in groups or with their families. One can definitely say this put a smile on my face and on Helen's as we were enjoying each other's company out and away from campus.

THE COFFEE

Honey Vanilla Latte

Everyone knows by now I have a sweet tooth so I asked for a sweet coffee though I wasn't going to go with my typical venti sized Starbucks drink today. Instead I kept it smaller, and got a refreshing tea on the side as well. Though, I am not too much of a fan of black tea, so it was a strange combo to pair it with Mango-honey. The flavor of the black tea overpowered everything to only leave a bitterness.

The coffee though, was worth the wait. There I could taste the honey... clearly I went with a theme for the day on my coffee adventure.

LE THÉ

Black Mango Honey Tea

Despite me adoring my addiction to coffee mixing it up is good and I'm always willing to try something at least once.

Coffee was a pick me up to get me going, but the Black Mango Honey Tea was refreshing on that warm summer morning. Especially since it kept me going throughout the spontaneous day Helen and I were about to have because when I'm out and about doing this...I tend to make it up as I go along. No longer confined to the constant schedule of my life day-in-day out. This gives a bit of spunk and pa-zaz into my daily grind.

It balances out the school work, taskers, job demands with a light hearted, fun activity. Plus I get to see some little neat places here.

Black tea isn't really my thing, way too bitter in this case, but I'm not one to throw things away. But that's alright I had a meal and chocolate to make it up.

THE CHOCOLATE

Honey Comb

Sharing is caring, especially in good company with Helen. I'm no chocolate expert and I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to getting my hands on something filled with sugar. Except for Blue Bell ice cream and I stand by that, my favorite brand is Haagen Dazs and I am a devoted follower! Believe it or not my favorite flavor has nothing to do with coffee.

Plain and simple, just like me and my failed jokes....a good old classic that never fails....vanilla! *Dun-dun-DUUN!*

However, back on topic to the chocolate...it was gone before the day ended. I think that sums it up. Along with a few other very neat facts that I saw on the packaging. There is a harvest date for the cocoa beans used, mine was 2019. I don't see that on the Hershey's bar (which I don't like) Ritter Sport and Lindor have my heart!

The Honey Comb was a good first timer to deviate from the normal chocolate brands. It is pricey and next time I may to try the raspberry one.... after I get my next month's pay check. Helen will be gone by then living and having a wonderful experience in!

Maybe when she gets back we can make a little celebratory trip back and she can tell me all about her adventures!
