The end of my junior year is upon us! But that doesn't come without it's grueling taskers that need to get done before the school year ends. Like a Law Paper! Damn...where is my coffee? I'm gonna need it.
Pike's Perk Coffee
You don't have to go very far to get somewhere new... sometimes going back to the classics of comfort and what you know are just as refreshing sometimes. Now I went hopping over there twice. So this will be a mesh of the two because they go hand in hand.
With the hectics of a college life and the last three weeks beginning to really take a toll rather than exhaust myself with finding a new place (though the adventure is exhilarating) I decided to go around the corner of the block.
First I went with my partner in crime Lils! And we claimed our spot at the largest table spreading our school work out to assert dominance in this tiny coffee shop. Which nobody seemed to mind or care. I seriously just remember eating a bagel. The meals always come with a fancy little orange slice.
I'm going to be permanently borrowing that idea in my breakfasts when I graduate or go home to the fam.
There wasn't much to say, other than the realities that I faced were simply, I didn't want to do my law final paper, because I am no law major nor do I have nay aspirations of going into a court room and arguing with people. I do enough of that on the daily anyways... and...I sometimes lack manners. I'd end up like Vinny who was held in contempt for his lack of court procedure awareness.
Instead I'd get it for my stubbornness... though my fowl mouth wouldn't help either. Don't worry it goes away when I visit home. Occasionally there is a slip up but a nervous laugh and "oops! Sorry" does the trick.
The best one yet is when the parents join in with "Verrdammt noch mal Fella!" (hasn't happened to me and that's a good thing I believe, got parents with standards and who honestly don't need to swear to get their point across nor raise their voice.
They could be lawyers!
But anyways I had this law paper in front of me, my cases printed out looking for authority, evidence to support my side of the case (which my professor had assigned to me) let me tell you I couldn't be a lawyer because I cannot defend someone who did something bad. I couldn't do it. You face the consequences for your actions just like everyone else, that's my mentality and this paper was making me wrestle with my morals.
However, the light atmosphere of Pike's Perk brightened my mood, and with an iced lavender coffee I was able to slowly work my way through this 2 am finished first draft that I had submitted two days before. The final draft wasn't due until the next upcoming Friday.
Plopping myself on a snuggling couch at first I popped my fingers and stretched from the long 20 min car ride only to realize that on that couch I was not going to get any work done what-so-ever! So I moved to go find--Wait, wait! Hold up to a more important question! Why wouldn't you wait to finish this paper ? You got time guuuurrl! Ain't due til Friday!
To that I say....
Mhmm....wait til the last minute after staying up late for 5 days straight and your final papers are worth at least 25% of your entire grade. Not saying no one else has challenges, I'm just defending myself. But, that is one reason, the other is because along with the law final paper (which ended up being 14 pages) there was an extra catch.
We also had to preform well in court. I mean...*cough* "Court" *cough*
And if your professor is a former Marine JAG... you'd probably be nervous too! The man has standards, and when it comes to law he is following it down to the T! The -Teeeeeee! I tell you!
Kind of reminds me of the show Judge Judy....I mean I am going to get my paper and butt roasted for seven minutes up there.
With the grueling typing and developing a thesis that had to be changed several times due to the paper taking twists and turns, I also had to prepare an oral argument to this case. SOOOO.... along with writing the papel--I was mentally preparing myself to get raided with questions about the constitutional amendments, other judges interpretations of the constitution and how it applies to the 21st century!
I was scribbling and highlighting authority for my argument--Well wait, what does this have to do with coffee?
Nothing except for the fact that I went and did this at a coffee shop with my best friend. So I was sip'n on high scrounging through my law paper with nothing on my mind but stress and a good time with her. (Though she was stressed too it's that time of year again!)
But I do have pictures to share! Yippee!
The last huzzah of the semester and we'll finally have ascended to the top of the college hiearchy as...SENIORS! With still plenty of people telling us what to do with our daily lives.
And you know what? That's okay, life is going to be stressful sometimes, and for a long time. But going somewhere else where I can focus helped me out. Plus... before I forget to add... the darn avocado toast is hella' good. (Yes another cliche white girl thing) but I consider it a treat, and I like it and that's what matters.
As for my law paper... that not so much.
